Two CCP officials received illegal gratification: Lawyer

PANJIM: A lawyer has accused two officials of the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) of illegal gratification, for allegedly allowing illegal operation of a mobile tower in the capital.
In his complaint to Panjim police station, Advocate Sahish Mahambrey said that he had complained to CCP regarding the illegal mobile tower but no show cause notice was issued to the concerned or stop work ordered. In its last hearing on November 30, 2018 a stop work order was finally issued as it was allegedly found that the tower is operational without any order from the competent authority.
He stated that despite the order, the two officers were not seeking its compliance by allowing mobile operation. “Non taking of action is on account of illegal gratification which has been obtained by the two persons to forbear to do their official duty. It is a criminal misconduct as in fact they wanted to legalize the tower on the terrace which is not permissible,” reads the complaint copy.
Panjim police said they would examine the complaint before registering a First Information Report (FIR). A senior officer said the complaint can even be forwarded to Anti-Corruption Branch as it pertains to corruption charges.
