Two conmen held for selling Gogol man fake gold for Rs five lakh

VASCO:The Verna Police have arrested Ravi Solanki of Thane, Maharashtra and Ishwar Gujarati from Pune for allegedly cheating a person from Gogol by selling him fake gold. 

The two have been remanded to police custody for two days. As per the complaint lodged by Manoj Singh of Gogol, Margao, the accused, along with a woman named Soni Rathod, induced him to purchase a gold chain worth Rs five lakh, which later turned out to be fake. 

In his complaint, Singh stated that in December last year, the accused persons came to his shop at Verna and told him that they had found a pot of gold while digging at Ratnagiri and that they wanted to sell the gold, initially asking him to pay  Rs 20 lakh for it. They later gave him a ‘bargain’, bringing the price down to Rs five lakh.The police have registered an offence under Section 420 read with 34 of IPC against all three accused.
