VASCO/SANGUEM: Two persons were drowned in separate incidents at Vasco and Sanguem, on Tuesday.
In a tragic incident, a 16-year-old Anil Chawan from Shantinagar-Vasco, drowned in a water-filled laterite stone quarry at Cuelim, Cansualim. The tragedy occurred when Chawan along with two others had gone to the abandoned laterite quarry, for a swim.
Chawan family was devastated with Anil’s death as his elder brother too had died due to drowning in their native place in Karnataka, a few years ago. In another incident, 21-year-old Sarvesh Vadaker of Curdi-Curpem, Sanguem, drowned in a mining pit.
Sarvesh had left his home at around 6.30 pm citing personal work. As he did not return home, family members started searching for his whereabouts and found him drowned in mining pit.
