PONDA: Driver Mahadev Naik dosing at the wheel proved tragic as vehicle went off road and dashed to a road side teak tree due to which his son Siddam Mahadev Naik (11), from Paz Shiroda and his cousin sister Resham Rajendra Naik (18), from Rivona Sanguem died. The car accident took place at Mapa Panchawadi on Monday at 10.30 am.
Siddam, who was sitting on the front sit was rushed to PHC Curchorem, where he was declared brought dead while Resham who was injured while sitting on the back seat was shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, and died while undergoing treatment.
The five occupants, who were injured were car driver Mahadev Naik (48), Purva Mahadev Naik (47), Soumya Mahadev Naik (7), all from Shiroda while Radhika Rajendra Naik (52), from Rivona Sanguem and Rohini Naik (22), from Rivona Sanguem, were injured.
The members of two families, all relatives had arrived in Goa on Monday at around 10.30 am. Mahadev Naik were going to drop the relatives at Rivona, Sanguem, when the accident took place. It is learnt that driver Mahadev dozed off due to which he lost control over the car.
