MARGAO: In two separate incidents, one file each was reported to have been stolen from the Salcete Mamlatdar and Block Development Office (BDO)
In the first case, some unknown person stole a file connected with a case from the Salcete Mamlatdar’s Office here. The Salcete Mamlatdar in this connection has lodged a police complaint with the Fatorda Police Station providing details of the file which is being investigated.
When contacted the Fatorda Police said that based on the complaint lodged by Laxmikant R Dessai (PIO) Salcete Mamlatdar, an offence under Section 380 of the IPC was registered on January 18, 2023 pending investigation . No arrest has been made yet.
In the complaint, the Salcete Mamlatdar stated that in the office of Mamlatdar of Salcete, Margao an unknown official /custodian from the office of Mamlatdar committed theft of file pertaining to case no. jm – 1 /mund /reg /Ben 629 / 78.
Fatorda Police confirmed registering such a complaint. An offence has been registered against the unknown person.
The Police said that investigation is at a preliminary stage and that they will visit the office and conduct the investigation. The police will also record the statements in connection with the case, sources said.
In the second case, another file has reported gone missing from the Block Development Office, Margao and a complaint in this connection has been lodged with the Fatorda Police.
The police have confirmed receiving the complaint regarding the missing of one file. However, no case has been registered as yet. Police are investigating.
