PANJIM: Former Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) president John Nazareth on Tuesday began his token protest demanding immediate termination of an employee recruited at the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB), Bambolim by submitting fake certificates.

Former GGEA general secretary Ganesh Chodankar also joined the token protest.

Speaking to media persons at Azad Maidan, Panjim, Nazareth said that one Satish Naik has been recruited as technician for occupation therapy at the IPHB, Bambolim by producing fake certificates from a university which does not exist. He claimed that Naik does not possess knowledge of Konkani, which is essential for government jobs.

Nazareth further alleged that the employee was tampering with evidence and the government officials were shielding him for the last one decade. He said that he had filed a complaint against the employee in September last year and had produced all the documents obtained under Right To Information (RTI) Act.

Nazareth demanded that the government should follow the Supreme Court judgments and terminate the employee as done in the past when the government terminated services of a police sub-inspector (PSI) and two assistant motor vehicles inspectors (AMVI) for producing forged documents to secure government jobs. “How can the government have two yardsticks or two different set of rules for its employees with similar offences?”he asked.

Nazareth said that he will continue his token protest for one-week before deciding his next plan of action. He also said that he would file a complaint with the Vigilance Department if the employee is not suspended and inquiry is instituted against him.

Meanwhile, Goa TMC spokesman Trajano D’Mello has demanded the immediate termination of Satish Naik for submitting forged documents to get a government job. He criticised the BJP government for the hypocrisy on the issue of integrity.
