CALANGUTE: Two men posing to be skilled ‘gold polishers’ were thrashed by enraged locals in Saligao. The incident, captured on video, unfolded on Wednesday and has gone viral across various social media platforms.
The duo, hailing from Bihar, approached residents in the Muddavaddo area of Saligao and managed to persuade some residents of their proficiency in the art of gold polishing. Luring them with promises of restoring the luster of their gold ornaments, the suspects initially gained the trust of the unsuspecting locals
Allegedly, the suspects immersed the gold ornaments into a solution and left to solicit more clients from neighboring households. However, when the ornaments were retrieved from the solution roughly 30 minutes later, the quantity of gold had drastically reduced.
Promptly alerting one and another, the affected residents swiftly located the imposters and attempts to extract coherent explanations reportedly fell flat. Infuriated by the attempted deceit, the locals took matters into their own hands, and thrashed them.
Subsequently, the local residents handed the duo over to the Saligao police for further investigation.
