PANJIM: Old Goa police arrested two persons for stalking three minor schoolgirls while they were on their way to school. One accused is absconding.
PI Jivba Dalvi said a complaint was lodged by the headmaster of the school in Tiswadi on Wednesday morning stating that three persons on a scooter followed three minor girls on their way to school to foster personal interaction with the girls even after the girls refused to do so.
The police registered an offence under Section 354D read with Section 34 of Indian Penal Code and section 8 of Goa Children’s Act, 2003.
Dalvi further said that a team consisting of PSIs Sagun Redkar and Shivram Gauns, constables Mayur Asolkar and Harishchandra Sakhalkar was formed and after observing the CCTV footage of the route, the police team collected local intelligence and zeroed in on the accused.
Subsequently two accused persons Prasad Ghadi (22 yrs) and Anand Raimane (24 yrs), both residents of Chorao were arrested. The third accused Dinesh Chari, a resident of Kundaim is absconding.
Police have also attached the scooter used by the accused. Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of Dalvi, SDPO Panaji Uttam Raut Dessai and SP North Chandan Choudhary.
