PANJIM: Panjim Police have arrested two persons for allegedly committing a theft of articles belonging to the Public Works Department (PWD) worth Rs 20,000.
The accused has been identified as Gauns Mohiddin (26), a resident of Merces, Tiswadi, and Azgar Ali (35), a resident of Ribandar and native of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the police, Siddesh Gaonkar (44), a PWD official, in Panjim, lodged a complaint that Gauns entered office of PWD and stole two iron pieces (parts of the elevator) weighing 50 kgs, each worth Rs 10,000 each and handed them over to Azgar.
The incident occurred on March 15, 2024. The Panjim Police have filed a case under section 380 read with 34 of IPC and the same is being investigated by Head Constable Rajesh Yeshi.
