PANJIM: The Special Investigative Team land grabbing has arrested two persons for allegedly grabbing land in Anjuna.
The Mapusa Police have registered an offence against three accused persons under section 419, 465, 466, 467, 468, 471, 420 read with 34 IPC and has placed Esteven D’Souza, Rosa Maria D’Souza E Gomes under arrest. The land grabbing came to light after a written complaint of Fleur Butler Freitas from Guirim that the accused persons Maria Rosa D’Souza e Gomes, Antonio Gomes and Esteven D’Souza all from Goa Velha with their dishonestly prepared forged documents i.e. deed of sale and Affidavit-cum-No Objection by impersonating the lawful owners of landed property surveyed under survey No. 423/1 of Village Anjuna.
The accused persons further fraudulently produced the forged documents as genuine before the authorities and succeeded in transferring the ownership rights thereby deprived the owners of landed property from enjoying their legal rights and cheated them.
Accused namely Esteven D’Souza is presently in Police custody, Rosa Maria has been granted bail and the third accused in the case has expired.
