PONDA: Two houses at Opa-Khandepar junction got flooded due to the incomplete gutter construction work following incessant rains for the past two days.
A resident Sandeep Parkar said his house and another owned by his neighbour were flooded. He complained that gutter construction work at OPA junction is pending, the rainwater from the road flows into the private property and finally enters their house causing severe hardship to his family.
Parkar recalled that last year their household goods were damaged due to flooding.
He said, “After complaining about their hardship, the government had started the work to construct a gutter along the roadside from MIBK High School to OPA Junction. However, the work is pending near OPA Junction. This gutter is needed as the road is also used by students.”
He said, “The Panchayat was directed by the BDO to remove all encroachments such as kiosks to make way for the provision of gutter and footpath. However, the work is pending and water flows into the private property due to this it gets flooded and water enters my house and that of neighbour Mahadev Nevrenkar too.”
Parkar requested the government the complete the gutter construction at the earliest.
