Two killed in separate mishaps in Sattari taluka

Two persons were killed in separate mishaps in Sattari taluka.
According to Valpoi police, Yeshwant Kashiram Dharne (22) of Bhedshi-Maharashtra was knocked down by a motorcycle (GA-04/B-7900), driven by Gudu Falsing Rajput at Saleli-Honda recently. The accused fled from the scene. The deceased, who fell by the roadside, was found dead next morning.
Valpoi police found pieces of the motorcycle at the accident site and began a search of motorcycles in the area.
The police then went to Honda on Friday morning and found the motorcycle parked outside the room of the accused, who was asleep at the time. The accused, a native of Karnatka but residing at Honda, was later arrested in the connection.
Following an autopsy, the body was handed over to relatives for final rites.
In the second incident, Chandrakant Sada Dhatkar (45), a native of Karnataka but residing at Pissurlem, was crushed to death at the Pissurlem mines on Friday afternoon.
Valpoi police said the deceased was seated in front of a stationary truck (GA-01-U-8942), which was lined up at the Pissurlem mines site for loading operations. The truck driver, Ravindra R Gawde, failed to notice Chandrakant seat in front of the truck and set the truck in motion, killing him on the spot.
Incidentally, the deceased was also a truck driver and had also parked his truck in the queue. While his truck was at some distance away, he chose to rest under the truck (GA-01-U-8942), a decision which cost him his life.
Police sent the body for an autopsy and PSI C L Naik is investigating both cases under the supervision of PI Harish Madkaikar.
