PANJIM: The battle between the senior and junior Congress leaders continues to simmer, with two more young Congress block leaders raising their voice against the party leadership’s move to resurrect old rejected faces, stating “it’s time for the grandfathers to play with the grandchildren and not in politics”.
Addressing the media, Congress’ minority Mapusa block convener Firoz Khan and Madkaim block vice president Sandeep Naik, said the senior faces, especially those rejected by people in the 2012 polls, need to rethink about contesting the election.
“These senior leaders have become grandfathers now and it’s time for them to play with their grandchildren and not in politics,” Naik said adding Congress cannot use youth as just a vote bank during election.
The statement comes a day after senior leader Minister Ravi Naik batted for the ‘grandfathers’.
, stating that no political party can function without the guidance of the seniors.
