Two more lose battle to COVID-19

PANJIM: Two more COVID-19 patients succumbed to the infection taking the death toll to 20 as on Thursday.

A 55-year-old woman from New Vaddem in Vasco and 67-year-old from Zuarinagar, Vasco, both admitted at the ESI COVID-19 hospital for treatment died on Thursday. This takes the deaths from the port town to 13, as it has also seen a large number of cases after an outbreak at Mangor Hill. 

As per details shared with the media, both patients had co-morbid conditions, a complication which the health officials have been saying were reported in a majority of patients who have so far lost the battle to COVID-19. 

As per the Health Bulletin, the State, on Thursday, reported 157 positive cases while 143 patients have recovered. The bulletin comprising daily COVID-19 status in Goa indicated that the confirmed cases have crossed the 3000-mark. 

With 3108 confirmed cases, the active cases stand at 1272 while 1817 have recovered. 

At present 33 persons have been kept in isolation wards while 189 are quarantined across various GTDC Residencies and hotels designated as COVID-19 quarantine centre. 

Tulip Diagnostics reported four additional cases on Thursday taking the total tally to 139. The company saw cases shooting up after an employee from Vasco was tested positive for the virus. 

There was no case in Merces as reported in Herald on our edition yesterday.
