MAPUSA/ PANJIM: Two Nigerians were arrested on Friday for allegedly possessing drugs, meant for peddling along the coastal villages.
In the first case, Anjuna Police arrested Charles Chukwuma Oguejio (37) with drugs.
According to PI Suraj Gawas, police conducted a raid on Thursday midnight between 23.25 pm and 2.10 am at four road junction, at Bhoutawado, Assagao and arrested the accused with 62.9 grams of drugs suspected to be cocaine worth Rs 6,30,000, which was concealed in a blue and black colour Yamaha Fasino scooter. Police also recovered cash of Rs 17,510 from the Nigerian.
The accused is arrested under Section 21(B) of NDPS Act. PSI Vilesh Durbhatkar is investigating the case.
In the second case, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) sleuths on Friday arrested a Nigerian for allegedly possessing drugs, meant for peddling in the coastal village of Arambol. The man identified as Joseph Kchlechi, 37 years, was caught red handed in possession of ecstasy tablets (14.061 gms) and cocaine (25.690 gms) worth over Rs 4 lakh.
This is the third arrest of Nigerians in just two days. On Thursday morning, the Crime Branch team arrested 37-year-old Onyinyechi Eniyinnaya Arungwa in possession of cocaine and LSP papers, worth Rs 5.4 lakh at Siolim.
The ANC team has got his remand of 14 days in judicial custody.
