Two pharmacies burgled at Mardol

PONDA: Two pharmacies at Mardol Bazaar were broken into on Tuesday night by some unknown culprits who decamped with cash of Rs 21,000.
Dattaraj Velingkar said that Rs 15,000 were burgled from his pharmacy. He said that he has installed a CCTV camera in his pharmacy, but it became non-functional on the day of burglary. 
Harsh Prabu said that burglars entered his pharmacy by opening roof tiles and fled with Rs 7000. He said he had also installed CCTV camera, but due to frequent power breakdown and to save the battery backup, he switched it off.
Another vendor said that few month ago there was a theft in a shop at Mardol and the owner had installed CCTV camera which caught the thieves committing theft of goods in the shop, unfortunately police failed identify the accused and nab them.
The vendors complained that despite there being a police outpost in Mardol Bazaar, thefts and burglaries still occur. Therefore, they have demanded night patrolling by the police.
