MARGAO: Margao Police early Friday morning at 1.30 am caught two persons and rescued three girls from their clutches as the men had brought the women to be delivered to their prospective customers for prostitution.
The two arrested are 29-year-old Arman Khan from Housing Board at Davorlim and 19-year-old Tejas Marathe an unemployed youngster from Madel while the three rescued girls were aged 34, 35 and 23 years old.
While the victims have been sent to women’s protection home at Merces, the two accused have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and also under Sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and are at present in police custody. The raid that was conducted by Police Inspector Sachin Narvekar with assistance from Auda Viegas and other police officials was supervised by Harish Madkaikar the Sub Divisional Police Officer at Margao.
