The legislator informed the House that they have already identified a place for construction.
The resolution read: “We need the institution since there is no other place for orgainising public functions, cultural programs, creative activities, etc in the constituency and a large number of talented artists, singers, tiatrists, dancers, etc from the constituency have no platform to exhibit their talents… (as they come) from remote places (they) have no access to the events performed in neighbouring cities.”
Parrikar’s resolution: A private member’s resolution moved by the Opposition to ensure proper coaching to elevate success of Goan students nationally, was withdrawn following government’s reply that it introduced NCERT syllabus with the same objective.
The resolution was moved by Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar on the concluding day of the monsoon session, Friday.
Bhartiya Janata Party legislator Laxmikant Parsekar, speaking on Parrikar’s behalf recommended setting up of special schools for coaching in Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology by granting relaxation in rules to ensure better success rate of Goans in specialized sectors including IIT/BITS/IISC/AIMS, etc.
This, he said, will help students, especially the bright ones, to avail coaching without affecting school attendance.
Replying to the resolution, Education Minister Atanasio Monserrate said that the NCERT syllabus was introduced with an objective to raise the educational standard of students at the national level.
“It is learnt that some avail coaching classes… most of the schools function in the morning and attend the coaching in the evening. I assure that no student will be deprived… going by the resolution notes, there can be relaxation in attendance in the afternoon session of the school,” he told the House.
