PANJIM: Two rape victims from Tiswadi taluka on Wednesday met Inspector General of Police (IGP) Omvir Singh Bishnoi and demanded immediate action against the accused.
One of the victims demanded immediate arrest of the accused Lezio Fernandes, 32, of Agonda, Canacona, who is absconding and his anticipatory bail application was dismissed by the District and Sessions Court, Margao. The accused, a musician by profession was presently residing at Murida-Fatorda.
The complaint was lodged on January 25, and since then Fernandes has been reported to be absconding. The victim in her complaint has stated that the accused on the pretext of marrying allegedly sexually assaulted her on several occasions from January 8 to 19 and also threatened to make her nude photographs viral. She is currently five months pregnant.
The second victim demanded stern action against a doctor, who aborted her five-month-old baby at the instance of the accused and without her consent.
The police have already arrested Allahasaheb Subedar Mulla alias Vicky, 39, from Davorlim for allegedly having sexual intercourse with the complainant on several occasions under the pretext of marriage since September 2022.
The accused Allahasaheb Subedar Mulla was married and has two wives and five children. Both the cases have been registered by the Women’s police station, Panjim.
After meeting the IGP, both the victims told mediapersons that the police officer has assured them that the culprits would be arrested for committing the crime.
