The Pilerne fire station received a call at about 3.45 pm regarding a fire at a grocery shop, belonging to Anil Naik at Walkeshwada-Betim.
A fire brigade led by station In-charge Namdev Dhargalker rushed to the spot. As the shop was located in the house itself, it took the fire fighters nearly two hours to extinguish the fire.
Grocery, furniture, fans, etc all worth Rs 8 lakh were gutted in the fire. The exact cause of fire is not known and investigations are underway.
