Two suspected dengue cases in Cutbona

CUNCOLIM: Two Cutbona residents were admitted to a private hospital in Margao on suspicion of contracting dengue fever. While tests are being conducted on them, health department officials have stated that there is no need to panic as the situation is under control.

It may be recalled that a woman had died due to dengue, sparking panic in the village. There were several public meetings, where locals had blamed the migrant population for the spread of dengue, following which the health department had inspected and taken action in areas where living and workplace conditions were considered to be unhygienic and where water was found to be stored.Reacting to Monday’s development, Cutbona locals reiterated that migrant laborers were spreading the disease in the locality.Salcete residents are worried due to the dengue outbreak in the taluka earlier this year, particularly in Sao Jose de Areal.
