MARGAO: Two unknown women have been booked for theft of a mangalsutra from a jeweller’s showroom, here.
According to the complainant, on March 15, at around 5.30 pm, two women wearing a mask entered the shop premises. They requested the salespersons to show them mangalsutras saying that they want to purchase a mangalsutra.
The sales representatives showed the customers various designs of mangalsutras. During this process, the two accused ladies pocketed one of the mangalsutras.
“The unknown women have committed theft of one mangalsutra from our shop. The stolen mangalsutra weighs -36.30-6.25=30.05 (22Kt) 916 Hallmark Jewellery. The value of the stolen mangalsutra is Rs 1.6 lakh,” said the owner of the jewellery shop.
The act is recorded in the CCTV cameras of the shop and has been handed over to the police to help them investigate the theft.
