MARGAO: In a shocking incident, a 27-year-old man is alleged to have raped a two-year-old girl at Colva.
Initially, the Colva police had registered an offence of molestation, but have now charged one Santan Fernandes, a resident of Colva for rape after the medical report revealed signs of penetration.
The incident occurred at around 3.30 when the victim’s mother had gone out with her son when the accused, a friend of the victim’s family, was inside the house. When the mother returned home, she noticed the accused lying on the bed with the minor after removing her undergarments.
“The mother slapped the accused who was in an inebriated state and later narrated the incident to the locals, who intimated the police”, the Colva police said.
A police team led by PSI Sudesh Velip is on the look out for the accused person. Further investigations are on.
