Uber has started its services in Goa. Uber announced the same through the
personal notifications to its previous customers. The top cab aggregator along
with other industry giants has been attempting to get a share of the taxi
business in Goa for nearly a decade. Now, Uber has begun operations for Airport
pick-up and drop-off.
The aggregator has
also urged its former customers to try out their services in Goa. While the
government has been in support of the cab aggregators it has been caught in a
balancing act for the last several years because of the agitation of local taxi
drivers in Goa opposing the cab aggregators in the State. The entry of Uber now
opens the gates for other small and big aggregators to get a piece of the taxi
business in Goa which is booming because of tourism.
