PANJIM: Panjim Mayor Uday Madkaikar will continue to hold the post for the second term, while councillor Vasant Agshikar is likely to take over as Deputy Mayor.
BJP’s Panjim MLA Atanasio Monserrate on Tuesday announced that Madkaikar will continue in the chair. He added that Agshikar will replace Pascoal Mascarenhas as Deputy Mayor.
It is to be noted that Madkaikar and Agshikar will file their nominations on Wednesday and both are likely to be elected unopposed. The elections to the post of Mayor and Deputy Mayor have been scheduled to be held on March 12.
