PANJIM: United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP) president Dr Jorson Fernandes on Sunday resigned from the primary membership of the party.
Dr Fernandes submitted his resignation letter to the party secretary general Adv Anacleto Viegas.
According to information available, Dr Fernandes will join the Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) on Monday. He is also likely to be the TMC candidate for Cuncolim constituency.
Dr Fernandes had earlier announced his plans to contest the upcoming Assembly elections from Cuncolim constituency on UGDP symbol besides fielding candidates in three other constituencies.
Dr Fernandes had unsuccessfully contested 2007 Assembly election from Cuncolim constituency.
