MARGAO: The United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP) has decided to boycott the EIA hearing at Pernem on Sunday, with party Vice President Radharao Gracia saying that the hearing will serve no purpose.
“Whether the location is environmentally sound or not is not our concern. We are opposed to Mopa per se,” he said.
He took a dig at Environment Minister Alina Saldanha’s silence on the EIA hearing, claiming that she has sold her soul to the devil. “Let Alina come down to South Goa and explain her stand on the EIA hearing when experts say the document is a bundle of lies and falsehood,” Radharao said.
He said though the Sunday hearing on the airport issue relates to the environment, the UGDP vice president said that the party is oppose to the Mopa airport whether it has environmental clearences or not. “We will continue to oppose the airport come what may,” he warned.
