CANACONA: Canacona Police on Monday arrested a tailor Gulsher Ahmed, a native of Uttarakhand for allegedly raping a 20-year-old girl from South Goa in a hotel room at Palolem.
The police informed that the accused, who resides in Navelim, befriended the victim when she recently visited his tailoring shop for stitching a costume. On the pretext of providing her a job overseas, the accused brought her to Canacona to meet an agent on Monday and booked a room in a hotel at Palolem. Following some sound inside the room, the hotel staff contacted the police. By the time the police arrived, they only found the victim inside the room, who later narrated the entire incident.
The police swung into action and nabbed the accused on Monday evening. An offence under Section 376 of IPC was registered.
Police said the victim has been sent for medical examination.
