Unable to cope with low water pressure and erratic supply, Varca locals threaten to agitate

MARGAO: After Nuvem, hundreds of residents of Varca have expressed frustration due to the lack of proper water supply and have threatened to agitate if the issue is not resolved immediately.

The residents of two wards of Varca village, Pedda-Dumottem and Pedda-Nomeio, are facing hardships due to extremely low pressure of water trickling from their taps since October. They suspect that commercial establishments in the area are involved in tapping their water illegally, as a similar incident was reported a year ago.

Recently, 25 families complained that they had gone without a drop of water for several days, and the Public Works Department restored their

water supply only after the issue was reported by the Herald.

Mario Cardozo, a resident of Pedda-Dumottem said, “The water pressure is so low that it takes hours to fill a single bucket.”

He added that he had informed the PWD about commercial establishments that were caught red-handed tapping into residents’ water supply last year, but they responded that no such fault had been found.
