Uncle tragically took the life of his nephew in the early hours of Sunday amid a heated exchange between the two, fueled by alcohol. However, it came to light on Monday afternoon in Santa Cruz-Ponda, where an altercation unfolded Krishna Naik, 67 years old, inflicted fatal injuries upon his nephew, Avinash Naik, employing stones and other objects, leading to Avinash’s premature death.
Promptly responding to the incident, law enforcement detained Krishna Naik on charges of murder. Fingerprint experts were swiftly dispatched to the scene to secure vital evidence, while Inspector Tushar Naik oversaw the ensuing procedures, including the post-mortem examination.
The dispute originated from disagreements over household repairs, with both uncle and nephew residing in separate sections of the same dwelling. Known for his contentious behavior when intoxicated, Krishna Naik frequently engaged in conflicts with neighbors and relatives. Avinash Naik, an unmarried salesman in Ponda, tragically fell victim to this familial strife.
Following the fatal assault, Krishna Naik neglected to seek aid or notify neighbors, leaving Avinash unattended until discovered by his aunt on Monday afternoon. Subsequently, Krishna Naik promptly informed Avinash’s married sister and alerted the Ponda police. Inspector Tushar Lotlikar spearheaded the initial investigation, under supervision of South Goa Superintendent Sunita Sawant.
This grim incident underscores the severe repercussions of familial discord exacerbated by alcohol consumption, emphasizing the imperative of conflict resolution and community support networks.
