VASCO: With the promise to make Goa corruption free, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced that all the decisions related to the State would be taken by the people and not by the politician, once they are voted to power.
He said that under present scenario people are feeling unsafe in Goa, however, the AAP government under Elvis Gomes will take responsibility for safety and security of every citizen of Goa, irrespective of caste and creed or religion.
He was addressing an AAP public meeting at Birla in Zuarinagar on Sunday.
On the occasion, Kejriwal released AAP’s Cortalim constituency manifesto. In its manifesto, AAP has promised better government services, road safety, transportation, creating new infrastructure besides completing the ongoing projects, to provide water and sanitation facilities in all villages, beaches, public places, and waste management solutions.
“Government policies and corruption is linked together. BJP and Congress leaders make policies keeping corruption in mind, but we don’t as we want to use people’s money for the development of people. I want to assure to the people of Goa that once AAP forms its government under the leadership of Elvis Gomes, all the decisions related to the State policies would be taken by the people and not by the politician. It is citizens who will decided what they want and what they don’t,” Kejriwal said.
He said, “It is very important for the people to know that, in Goa there is no financial crises as projected by the BJP, rather I feel that there is huge crises of intention in Goa as political leaders don’t want to do anything for the people, but want to do for themselves. Any government having good intention can easily provide water, electricity, roads, schools, dispensary etc.”
“The way AAP government did in Delhi and we are committed to provide all such basis facilities to Goa once voted to power. We will provide 400 ward clinics in Goa, similarly all the government schools will be provided with modern infrastructure and other amenities like we have in Delhi,” he promised.
Calling himself as a loyalists of late Matanhy Saldanha, Gomes claimed that Matanhy had bigger dreams for the people of Zuarinagar slums, however, after his death, BJP government made U-Turn on all his promises, which he, as the next Goa chief minister would fulfill.
He said that the way BJP government has taken series of U-Turns in last five years, in future during any exam students will have a question to elaborate U-Turn and those who write about BJP’s U-Turn would get full marks. ”People of Goa are frustrated with the U-Turns taken by the BJP and looks as the only option and we will fulfill all the aspirations of the people,” he said.
AAP Cortalim candidate Olencio Simoes lashed out at BJP government for increasing goondaism at Zuarinagar slums. He said that not on my girls but even boys are feeling unsafe and many are even getting rapped here as law and order has collapsed in Zuarinagar.
“After coming to power, new police station in Zuarinagar will be provided to tackle criminalization in Zuarinagar. Similarly, I will eliminate open defecation here and most importantly the dream of regularization of dwellings at Zuarinagar will be fulfilled,” he assured.
