Seraulim village in Power Minister Alexio Sequeira’s Loutolim constituency on Sunday became the second village in Goa to have underground HT power cables.
And, if the power minister is to be believed, the village will no longer see any overhead electric wire within the next one year and half as the power department has floated a tender for low tension underground cabling.
The HT underground cabling was commissioned at the hands of Seraulim Parish Priest Fr Eremito Coutinho in the presence of power minister, chief electrical engineer Nirmal Braganza and power officials near the Church premises.
Speaking on the occasion, the power minister said Loutolim constituency is the only rural area which has the privilege of having underground cabling.
“Loutolim is the first constituency where underground cabling has been commissioned. Within two years, you will not see any overhead wires in Seraulim. Tender for the LT underground cabling has been issued,” he said.
Expressing his gratitude for the people of Seraulim for electing him an MLA, Sequeira said “I am indeed indebted to you. I will never forget your gesture. My doors will always remain open to you even though the village will be part of another constituency from the next elections”.
He also assured Fr Eremito Coutinho that he would extend his full support to the Church to carry out any works.
Assistant Engineer, Santosh Lolienkar told newsmen after the Commissioning of the HT underground cabling that Seraulim village will not find only street light poles in the future as all overhead wires will be replaced by the underground LT cables in the next two years.
