MAPUSA: Undertrial Vivek Gautam, alias Aryan, and his wife been were remanded to judicial custody by the JMFC Court Mapusa while his brother Mohit Kumar Gautam was remanded seven days police custody.
It may be recalled on that on December 29, undertrial history-sheeter Vivek Gautam alias Aryan (28), native of Chandranagar, Agra, Uttar Pradesh had escaped from the escort police custody in a fully filmy action scene when he was brought to Asilo Hospital for medical check-up.
The undertrial was arrested in a dacoity case by Porvorim Police in 2019 and was in Colvale Central Jail from January 2020.
On December 29 night when the undertrial Gautam complained of stomach pain and vomiting, he was referred to Asilo hospital. However, after conducting medical checkup Gautam broke his handcuffs and fled from the spot with help of two accomplices when the escort police were leaving from the premises.
After conducting a detailed search, Gautam was nabbed by the Crime Branch from a house at Morjim which was booked in his wife’s name. His brother Mohit was apprehended at the Patradevi border.
