MARGAO: An undertrial prisoner, Shahabuddin Shaikh, aged 23, who had escaped through the toilet of the open ward while undergoing treatment at Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB) Bambolim was arrested by Maina Curtorim police and handed over to Agassaim police on Wednesday.
Colva police said that the alleged accused, involved in theft cases, will be taken into custody later.
The alleged accused was in judicial custody and was undergoing treatment at IPHB, when he escaped through the toilet of the open ward on November 5, 2021.
It may be recalled that Shahabuddin was arrested by the Vasco police on charges of stealing vehicles outside the port town. He was lodged at Colvale and shifted to IPHB for treatment.
