MAPUSA: The roads of Mapusa have turned into nightmare for the residents as well as to daily commuters.
After the digging of roads for sewage project by JIKA, the condition of roads in Mapusa have turned worse, with shoddy and haphazardly-carried-out patchwork by the concern authorities.
Almost all the roads which were previously hot-mixed have gone bad and other remaining roads are made even with patchworks that are uneven and at some places dangerous, specially for the two-wheeler riders, as the uneven roads have become mini speed-breakers.
Not only to daily commuters, but people with health problems, specially the old are facing major problem due to these even roads.
Authorities had boldly given assurances that all the roads would be hot-mixed soon after the rains. However, not a single internal road in Mapusa is in good condition.
Adding to this, the improper parking of vehicles has added to traffic congestion in Mapusa.
A daily commuter Rahul Naik said there is no need of more speed-breakers in Mapusa because every entry road of Mapusa has become a mini speed-breaker, after the patch work that has been done by the concern authorities.
Uneven and lumped patchwork can be seen almost everywhere, where the road was earlier dug up. Minor accidents have been reported everyday.
Residents have also complained that the authorities are doing haphazard and incomplete work, leaving all roads in worse conditions.
