PANJIM: Amendments to Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMRD) will come up before the next Union government cabinet meet to enable the restart of mining activities, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said on Friday.
“Goa government has compelled the Centre to bring legislation to restart mining in the State,” Godinho said while speaking to media persons.
He denied that the administration in Goa has been affected due to CM Manohar Parrikar’s sickness . “I do not accept that administration has collapsed and nothing is happening due to sickness of CM,” he said and added, “Wrong impression is being created amongst people.” Supporting Parrikar’s leadership, he said, “Parrikar can’t be separated from BJP.”
On employment, Godinho said that with the development of cargo and logistics hubs at Mopa, as assured by Union Minister Suresh Prabhu, employment would be generated and locals would not feel the need to go abroad for work.
Stating that development was taking place, he said that around 3,000 vacancies would be created in various government departments and in a month’s time posts would be advertised.
