Union Minister, CJI to attend new HC complex opening on March 27

High Court to function from new complex at Porvorim from June this year

PANJIM: Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Chief Justice of India S A Bobde and High Court judges will attend the inauguration of the new complex of the Bombay High Court at Porvorim on Saturday, March 27.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Law Minister Nilesh Cabral, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Advocate General Devidas Pangam and other dignitaries will also be present.

According to information available, about 62 Judges of Bombay High Court will attend the inauguration function and will also participate in the annual congregation of judges in the new building premises on the next day.

The work of the new two-storey court building has been executed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC). The building will have seven court rooms, chambers for Chief Justice and judges, chambers for registrar general and assistant registrar general, court halls and conference hall for judges, record room, visitors room, store room etc.

The foundation stone for the new High Court complex was laid in December 2013.  

However, the High Court which is currently functioning at Altinho will be shifted and function from the new complex at Porvorim from June this year.
