Union Minister for Transportation asks CM to submit plan for Metro Rail

Announces a state-of-the-art link road for Mopa, which would be completed by 2023 along with the airport

VASCO: Union minister of Roads, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Rs184 crore worth vital link between Loutolim and Verna Industrial Estate on Monday morning.

During a grand function held in Verna Industrial Area, ahead of the 2022 assembly elections Union minister Nitin Gadkari took up a suggestion for Metro Rails in Goa and asked Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to submit a plan for the transportation system.

Gadkari further claimed that the approach road and the single lane of Zuari Bridge would be completed by December this year and before the code of conduct is implemented, efforts will be made to inaugurate it.  He also announced a state-of-the-art link road for Mopa, which would be completed by 2023 along with the airport. He said the centre has sanctioned 

Rs12, 000 crore for Goa since 2014 for highway works.

Earlier, Sawant said that it is a pleasure to see that a good project is being inaugurated. This link road will give connectivity to North and South Goa and the credit should go to the team of engineers. 

He further said that second Zuari Bridge, which is a third longest cable bridge in a country

Another observatory tower, which is coming at the Zuari Bridge would be a touristic attraction.
