Union Minister Irani sanctions 60 Anganwadi centres in Goa

PANJIM: Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani on Sunday sanctioned new 60 Anganwadi centres in Goa to mark the 60th year of State’s liberation. 

Addressing the Sub-Zonal meeting of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development at Dona Paula, Irani said that the Centre will support Goa to establish two model Anganwadis in each block (taluka) with state-of-the-art infrastructure and digital equipment and a new ‘One Stop Centre’ in the South Goa district. 

Irani said 1098 helpline has helped protect around 18 lakh children from 2014 to 2021 and various helpline numbers are in operation, helping about 70 lakh women in various ways.

”There was a time when women used to dream, but they did not have the right and courage to speak. But now, women are fulfilling their dreams through various schemes of the government,” she said. 

The Union Minister also interacted with women beneficiaries to know their views on various schemes.
