Union Min’s remark proves State govt run by casino lobby: NSUI

PANJIM: While condemning Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy’s alleged remarks branding Goa as the ‘casino capital’ of the country, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) Goa unit has said that the statement proves that BJP-led government is run by the casino lobby.

NSUI Goa president Naushad Chowdhari said that the insensitive BJP government wants to make Goa a casino capital since the party and its government is funded by the casino lobby.

“The Union Minister’s remark is a clear indication that party and government is run by casino lobby,” he charged adding ‘BJP has once again proven to be anti-Goan, which works against the sentiments and requirements of the people’.

Chowdhari said that in the upcoming 2022 elections, Goans will vote against the casino backed BJP party will vote for Congress, to make Goa a tourism capital, and IT and Educational Hub and a peaceful loving state.

Reddy, who was in Goa on Saturday had said that people has already given casino capital title to Goa and the Centre is open to declare Goa as casino capital of India.

The statement attracted severe criticism across State. There are currently six off shore casinos and nearly a dozen of on-shore casinos, operational in the State.
