PANJIM: Crimes against women have been on the rise with the Mardol Police booking two unknown persons for allegedly raping a minor girl from the vicinity while the Ponda cops were on the lookout for a man for allegedly kidnapping a teenager.
According to the police, the victim’s mother lodged a complaint stating that two unknown persons had allegedly raped her minor daughter on January 10 this year.
An offence has been registered at Mardol Police Station under Section 376 of IPC and Section 8(2) of Goa Children’s Act and Sections 4, 8 and 12 of POCSO Act and is being investigated by LPSI R Bhaidkar.
In another incident, the Ponda police booked a person for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl on March 28.
A case under Section 363 of IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act was registered after a complaint was filed by the child’s father stating that the accused kidnapped his 17-year-old girl from from Ponda.
The accused has been identified as Santosh Patrut from Bethoda who is on the run.
