PANJIM: An unoccupied house belonging to a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) was burgled by unidentified persons at Chicalim.
The theft occurred on Sunday night and the entire incident was caught on the security cameras installed by the house owner Joseph Sequeira, who resides abroad.
In the CCTV, two thieves were seen entering the house by breaking the window grills. They rummaged all the rooms and decamped with two watches, two earrings, 500 Pounds and Rs 25,000 in cash, all amounting to Rs 1.6 lakh.
Following a complaint by Sequeira’s brother Assis Sequeira, residing at Nuvem, the Vasco police have registered an offence under sections 380 and 457 read with 34 of IPC. The police have obtained CCTV footages and efforts are on to nab the thieves.
