PONDA: Chaos prevailed at Borim due to road digging just ahead of the monsoon. Locals fears that water logging would take place during monsoon due to the incomplete work. They said they are not opposed to these development works but monsoon is not the time for undertaking such work.
Due to constant digging and re-digging, locals demand that the work should be done undertaken under the supervision of engineers and there is need co-ordination between the PWD, the Electricity Department and the Natural Gas authorities.
The locals said two policemen must be deputed throughout day near erstwhile Top Cola factory at Borim to prevent traffic congestion. Similarly mud should be removed from the choked gutters and the road widening of Borim main road should be undertaken immediately to minimise traffic congestion on the Borim road.
Borim Panchayat member Vinay Parpati along with villagers said the internal road at Top Cola factory Borim is dug again and again for works and laying underground power cables. He said this works are needed but at time of monsoon they create occasions for accidents. He said, earlier many people have been injured along this road stretch.
Locals fear during monsoon the road would become slippery and water logging would take place since the gutters are choked with debris. The road was dug for laying natural gas lines. But after the completion of the work the roads were neglected and not restored properly, causing traffic blocks on the main road as well as the internal road.
