MAYEM: It was an unusual vehicle for Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, as he guided a bullock cart along with Sanquelim MLA and Ravindra Bhavan President Dr Pramod Sawant, while they proceeded to the Ravindra Bhavan in Sanquelim on
Saturday.
Not only was Parsekar willing to ride on the bullock cart, he even expressed his desire to guide the traditional vehicle and later admitted that it had been his childhood desire to ride a bullock cart.
It was a regular bullock cart deployed to transport the chief minister, with only a special railing fitted on the cart as added protection.
“I will sit on the bullock cart only if you allow me to guide the bullocks,” he told Dr Sawant.
Dr Sawant readily agreed to Parsekar’s request and the chief minister climbed atop the bullock cart and travelled nearly 100 metres before reaching the venue of the two-day Ravindra Mahotsav at Ravindra Bhavan
in Sanquelim.
Later while addressing the gathering at the Mahotsav, Parsekar said he was always fascinated since his childhood to sit on a bullock cart. “After all these years, I have finally got this opportunity to sit and ride a bullock cart,” said Parsekar, much to the delight of the audience.
