Mapusa: Colvale police have booked one Vipin Chaurasiya (25), a native of Uttar Pradesh and presently residing at Madel in Thivim for allegedly outraging modesty of a girl by sharing her semi-nude photo on social media.
According to information obtained from police, the complaint was lodged by the mother of the
victim girl on April 28 at 3pm against the accused person.
As per the complaint, a month back, the accused who was supposed to be a close acquaintance of the victim girl, took the mobile phone of the victim and
further inserted a SIM card belonging to him in the victim’s mobile phone and created a social media group of family members and other unknown outsiders.
The accused had proposed to her, but she did not accept it. Hurt over the refusal, the accused went to his native village and while leaving, took her mobile phone with him and gave her a SIM card and further shared the semi-nude photos of the victim, which were stored in the mobile phone, via WhatsApp with an intention to defame her.
The accused thereby outraged the victim’s modesty for refusing his marriage proposal.
Colvale police have registered an offence under section 354-A, 500 IPC and Sec 67 of IT Act. Colvale PI Somnath Mahajik is investigating the case under the supervision of SPDO Jivba Dalvi
