VASCO: The Vasco Police arrested a 21-year-old native of Uttar Pradesh on the charge of possessing 1.2-kg of ganja worth Rs 1.2 lakh.
The accused Sunny Ramshankar Kevat, currently residing at Pixem-Dongri, Vasco was arrested at New Vaddemon Thursday night.
According to the information given by Vasco PI Kapil Nayak, there were several complaints from the residents of New Vaddem that narcotic activities are on the rise in the area. Patrolling was being conducted in the area for the last 25 days to nab any such person. Police managed to find a suspected person coming on a two-wheeler near the Government High School at New Vaddem at around 1 am. The police team led by PSI Rohan Nageshkar stopped the accused and a narcotic raid was conducted. Police found 1.2-kg of ganja worth Rs 1.2 lakhs in the dickey of the two-wheeler.
The accused was arrested under Sections 20 (b) (ii) (B) of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
