Bloomz school tie-up
rnPANJIM (HND): Bloomz International School, Borda has partnered with Royal Kent School, Surrey (London) as a part of the global school partnership program offered by the British Council.
rnThe schools visit each other in order to share knowledge about each other’s working styles, culture, pupils etc which helps them give global dimension to their curriculum.
rnAs a part of this program, the Head Teacher Sally Highton of Royal Kent School, Surrey, had come to visit Bloomz International School. “Highton was happy to see that Bloomz has a committed and caring staff who, just like at the Royal Kent, put the children’s happiness and learning first. She had fun teaching the children English, drama and art, and was impressed with their high standards” said Aditi Agrawal of BIS.

rnLok Adalat organised
rnPANJIM (HND): Ponda Taluka Legal Services committee recently organised a mega Lok Adalat with reference to cases under Section 138 of Negotiable Instrument Act in the Court of Senior Civil Judge and JMFC, Ponda.
rnAbout 86 cases were placed before Mega Lok Adalat, comprising of Chairperson of Ponda Taluka legal services committee, Sayonara Telles Laad, Advocate D V Amonkar, a member of legal profession from Ponda and Ex-Councillor of Ponda Municipal Council, Seeta Kakodkar.
rnA large number of cases were disposed. The advocates and public are looking forward to holding more of such Lok Adalats for reducing the number of cases pending under Section 138 of Negotiable Instrument Act.

rnNSS camp inaugurated
rnPANJIM(HND): The NSS special Camp of Shree Damodar College was recently inaugurated by Sarpanch of Fatorpa, Ganesh Dessai, who highlighted the importance of education in influencing the behavior pattern of the students.
rnThe main theme of the camp was ‘Health for All.’ Chief of NSS Programme, Dr Mansavi Kamat, chalked out various programmes to be undertaken during the camp and introduced the programme officers – Prof Anjali Sajilal, Prof Maria Rodrigues, Prof Maithili Naik, Prof Sumit Kumar Prof Mohan Undakotti.
rnThe Principal, Dr I Bhanu Murthy, welcomed, the gathering. Damania Alam of SY B.Com introduced the chief guest and the guest of honour the Panch of Fatorpa, Avinash Fatorpakar. Prof Florence Rebello proposed the vote of thanks and Garima Vasudeva of FYBCom compered.

rnHindi workshop held
rnPANJIM(HND): Corporation Bank recently organised a two-day Hindi workshop for its clerical staff at Panjim. The workshop was attended by staff members of 44 branches and zonal office of Corporation Bank.
rnDeputy General Manager, B B Tejappa, in his inaugural address said that the implementation of the national language in internal functioning has increased over a period of time. He urged the staff members to make sincere efforts in implementation of the national language by doing their internal work and correspondence with the controlling offices in Hindi. During the proceeding, the staff was also informed about various provisions of the Official Language Policy of GoI and methods of implementing it. A session on operating Hindi software Unicode and Akruti was also conducted.
rnA quiz competition titled ‘Rajbhasha Gyan Pratiyogita’ was conducted to test the knowledge of the participants.

rnTeacher accorded farewell
rnVALPOI (HC): Feliz Soares was accorded a warm farewell on her superannuation by the management, headmaster, staff and students of Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Valpoi.
rnSoares, who was appointed in 1972, had put in 38 years of her dedicated service as a teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Valpoi.
rnAt a ceremony organised in the school hall, Soares was felicitated for her sacrifices in the field of education. She had worked sincerely and dedicated her life for the cause of education. A prayer service was also organised to highlight teacher’s achievement, which was followed by speeches and entertainment programme. Students offered a bouquet of flowers as a token of love.
rnThe programme was graced by Manager Fr Felix Mendes, Headmaster Fr Jerard, PTA Chairman Balkrsihna Mahalshekar and PTA Treasurer Aktar Shah. Teachers Bernadette and Darshana compered the programme.
Narakasur contest
COLLEM (HC):Dudhsagar Kala Kendra, Collem, will organize its 19th Narakasur contest for cultural groups of Sanvordem constituency near panchayat building on November 4 at 8.30 pm.According to the organisers, the participating groups should reach the venue before 8 pm and there should be minimum of 15 participants in the group. Shri Krishna actor is a must during effigy presentation. Interested groups may submit its entry forms along with entry fee of Rs 50 on or before November 4 before 8 pm to the organizer.
Mass for workers
PANJIM (HND): The Catholic Workers Group will organise the annual mass for Workers’ children on November 4 at Mary Immaculate Church, Panjim, at 1.15pm. The Mass will be organised by the Directorate of Settlements and Land records, Panjim. A Priest will be available for confessions from 12.30pm onwards. Deepavali at Calangute
CALANGUTE(HC): The Prabhuwada Deepavali Utsav Sameeti will organise various competitions at Calangute to mark the Deepavali celebration.
The Sameeti will organise the competitions under the leadership of its President Chandrakant Chodankar (Chanu).
On November 4 at 6 pm, Lord Krishna will be worshiped in the premises of late Mangesh Datta Shet Teli at Porba Vaddo, Calangute, followed by the Narkasur competition.
Those interested in taking part in the Narkasur competition have to be ready with the Narkasur effigies by 9 pm, as the competition will start at 10 pm. An Orchestra will also be staged. The effigy of Narkasur will be burnt at 1 am with fireworks display. On November 5 at 8 pm, there will be an Akash Kandil competition. The participants should be ready at the Shree Shantadurga Temple premises by 7.30 pm. Prizes for the Narkasur competition will also be given on the same day.
At 8.30 pm, a Fancy Dress competition will be held for limited participants. Record Dance competition will be held at 9 pm, also with limited participants. The competitions will be held in two age groups, below 12 years and above 12 years.

Diwali at Cabesa
PANJIM (HND): ‘Omkar Sanskrutik Mandal’ Cabesa, Kalapur, St Cruz will celebrate Diwali on November 7 from 6.30 pm onwards at Near Mini Dubai Shoppe, Cabesa by holding an All-Goa Fancy Dress Competition for boys and girls of junior and senior category; cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. Bakery, cookery classes
PANJIM (HND): A comprehensive course on low fat bakery and cookery classes will be conducted from November 8 by Fatima Moniz in Margao.

Group dance contest
COLLEM(HC): Mahadev Mahila Mandal and Self Help Group of Kajumal-Sangod, Mollem, will organise a group dance competition for cultural groups from the State in the meeting hall of Mahadev Temple, Makadem, on November 14 at 2.30 pm.
Cash prizes of Rs 3,000, Rs 2,500 and Rs 2,000 will be awarded to the first three dance groups. Besides, three consolation prizes of Rs 500 each will be awarded.
