MARGAO: The Sunday gram sabha of Guirdolim panchayat witnessed uproar on the issue of gift deed of land for play ground in the village with villagers demanding that condition laid down in the deed be overruled and ignored.
Sarpanch Sonia Dias informed gram sabha members that conditions laid in gift deed cannot be over ruled/not followed. However gram sabha members adopted a resolution not to follow the conditions laid in the gift deed, while the Sarpanch said that the panchayat would seek legal opinion in regard on the resolution.
The panchayat has proposed to start collection of dry waste in the village on a trial basis. While it was decided to collect the waste on a weekly basis, the meeting opined that the collection could take on fortnightly basis if the quantum of waste is less. The meeting discussed on the issue of a site to store the dry waste but the sites identified by the panchayat body were objected to by the gram sabha members forcing the sarpanch to propose to store the dry waste collected in the open area near the panchayat office.
The issue of mosque which was discussed at the last gram sabha was also raised on Sunday with villagers raising objection over use of sound system even when at the last gram sabha it was decided to inform the authorities concerned in regard to noise pollution. The gram sabha decided that the panchayat write to the South Goa district collector not to issue licence for use of sound system to the local mosque which is illegal. It was also pointed out that then sarpanch late Bill Cardozo had refused permission installing sound system at the mosque. It was also resolved to write to the authorities in respect of the illegality of mosque structure.
