VASCO: Local MLA Carlos Almeida on Thursday blamed Urban Development Minister Milind Naik for the “haphazard” ward reservation for the upcoming civic elections.
“The reservation may have been done deliberately without consulting me, to defeat me in the 2022 Assembly elections,” Almeida alleged.
He also blamed the minister for the non-payment of salary to the municipal labourers.
Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida on Thursday launched the laying of pavers in Orulem-Vasco area.
“As per the act, there has to be one third reservation and not in particular constituency as done in Vasco and Dabolim. The Minister should answer on such non-sequential reservation in Vasco,” he demanded.
Almeida held Naik responsible for the municipal workers’ strike, which has been going on for the past three days, and added that ‘the minister should have made arrangement of funds to pay employees’ salaries.
“Garbage has piled up in the town and I feel the phone number of the Urban Development Minister should be given to the people so that they can call him just like Power Minister attends to the calls of the public,” he said.
