PANJIM: Calling on the State government to use the Rs 300 crore grant from the Centre to ramp up medical infrastructure, Porvorim Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte shared details of the 18 recommendations he had made to the Chief Minister during the recent virtual conference.

Khaunte said the Rs 300 crore that was meant for the Liberation Day celebrations should be used constructively for procuring medical infrastructure, which will come handy in future also.

“Funds should be utilised to engage private hospitals in free testing and vaccination. This will help us achieve mass immunity,” he added.

On the suggestions he had presented during the virtual discussion convened by the Chief Minister, he spoke about various aspects such as focusing on the tracing, testing and isolation formula and for an increase in testing through mobile vans for every constituency.

He called for carrying out vaccination and testing at the same location, i.e the local Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and appealed that special drives be organised for senior citizens who are unable to move out.

He demanded that touch-point assistance service (PRO) be headed by an IAS officer, where every citizen can find information on the current availability of beds, ventilators, oxygen, medicines, plasma donors and vaccinations at any given time.

He called for an increase in supply of Antigen testing kits to PHCs and medicines like Fabiflu 200 MG on an urgent basis.

While suggesting that GMC’s Super Speciality block be used for COVID patients, he said the assistance of the Army Medical Corps should be given how overburdened the existing infrastructure is.
